Gordana Vukovic grew up in former Yugoslavia. She received a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1994 and later transitioned into the field of Information Design.
Following a lifelong passion for art and design, Gordana started her art education in 2006 with a focus on textiles and fibers. She received a Level 2 Certificate in Textile Design from the Gail Harker Center for Creative Arts (Washington) in 2007. In 2010, Gordana earned a Level 2 Certificate in Design and Craft – Visual Techniques from The City and Guilds of London Institute (United Kingdom). She has also studied with Kerr Grabowski, Laura Cater-Woods, Elizabeth Busch, Jane Dunnewold, and Fran Skiles, among others.
Gordana has exhibited her experimental mixed-media and fiber art in Michigan, New York, and Washington, and in Australia. She was one of 66 recipients of the NYFA MARK program award in 2008. Gordana was also one of 100 invited fiber artists who recently participated in a fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Gordana is a member of the Surface Design Association and the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media.
